NOTICE OF RACE

1      RULES

1.1      The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing, 2021-2024.

1.2      The prescriptions of the United States Sailing Association (US Sailing) national authority will apply.

2      ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

2.1      The regatta shall be open to all sailboats which have a current Basic Portsmouth Number (D-PN) assigned under the Portsmouth Yardstick handicap rating system as published by the United States Sailing Association ("USSA").

2.2      Competitors are encouraged to pre-register by sending an email to Doug Kinzer at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..  Payment will be collected during registration/check-in at the event (See “Schedule”).

2.3      All entries shall be divided into “A” and “B” fleets, based on their overall length of more or less than 14 feet. 

2.4      The Lake Lemon Regatta serves as the final event in the Y-Flyer Mid-America Cup series. The Y-Flyers will be scored separately throughout the regatta.

2.5      Any classes for which there are eight (8) or more entries before the first Competitors Meeting shall constitute a fleet and will be scored separately. Any such fleets shall be eligible for a separate series of awards.

3      FEES

3.1      An entry fees must be paid when you register/check-in at the event.

3.2      $40 per boat/skipper, $20 per crew or junior skipper.  Includes breakfast, lunch, dinner on Saturday and breakfast, lunch on Sunday

3.3      Extra meal tickets may be purchased for non-competitors at registration/check-in. $5.00 for each breakfast or lunch, $10.00 for Saturday dinner, $20.00 for all 5 meals.

4      SCHEDULE

4.1      Friday, Sept 16th

1800                       Club will be open for early arrivals and camping.

4.2      Saturday, Sept 17th

0830                       Breakfast

0900-1200            Competitor Registration / Check-in

1200                       Competitors Meeting / Lunch

1300                       First Warning Signal

1730                       Happy Hour

1900                       Dinner

4.3      Sunday, Sept 18th

0830                       Breakfast

1000                       First Warning Signal, no races will be started after 1200

1300                       Lunch / Awards

4.4      The number of races scheduled each day will be weather dependent, and at the discretion of the race committee.

5      SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

5.1      The sailing instructions will be available at registration/check-in.

6      VENUE AND COURSES

6.1 Races will be on Lake Lemon, generally within a half-mile of the Bloomington Yacht Club.

7      THE COURSES

8      SCORING

8.1      One (1) races are required to be completed to constitute a series.

8.2      Scoring will be in accordance with RRS Appendix A. 

8.3      If five (5) or fewer races are completed, each boat’s series score shall be the total of her race scores with no score excluded.

8.4      If six (6) or more races are completed, each boat’s series score shall be the total of her race scores with her worst score excluded.

9      PRIZES

9.1      Prizes will be awarded to top competitors in each fleet scored in the series.   The number of prizes awarded to each fleet will be based on the number of competitors and at the discretion of the race committee.

10   DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

10.1    Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta. Competitors will be required to sign a waiver and release at check-in.

11   Lodging

11.1    Competitors are welcome to camp at the Bloomington Yacht Club facility.  Restrooms and a shower are available.  If you will be arriving early, please let someone on the contact list know so we can make sure the club facility is open for you.

12   Direction

12.1    Drive IN 45 to Unionville, IN.  Take Shuffle Creek Road north to South Shore Drive.  Take South Shore Drive east to The Port Hole Inn bar and grill.
