10:1 boom vang

Where is the best place to buy the components. Weeks has a mast 3" mast ring with strap which is pretty pricey @ $33. Can I double up on the vang bail? I'll use 6mm dacron instead of wire and need a couple of double blocks. Or should I buy the setup ready to go?

You don't want that 10 to 1 vang (actually 8 to 1). Most people are doing the 15 to 1 that takes it away from being cleated on the coaming. This is the Holt on at Intensity.

You need to attach this to the mast with the Laser vang attachment.

Not cleating on the coaming makes bearing off at the windward mark so much easier. Also, keeps you from breaking the boom pin.
