Hello - I had the pleasure of meeting and racing many of you last year at Bloomington. A very kind sir lent me one of his spare boats and although I didn't do well, I still had loads of fun. Next day I rode an enduro (offroad motorcycle) race in NE Indiana.

I have a newer Apollo 16 (1980) and my F5 is hull 9844 74J. No sail numbers yet. It is in fair shape but I'll be restoring it with the help of a local sailing dinghy magician - Bob Findlay, a long time sailing buddy of Rich Chapman, the tactician during my first 2005 Chicago Mack. Both these guys are sailing champions.

The F5 is in fair shape. We're going to pressure test the hull, clean her up and may spring for a new sail and 10:1 boom vang. I have a 6:1 harken micro vang. The Apollo not so much. Delaminated hull, waterlogged. I'm going to try to dry it out in the next 2-3 weeks if the damn storms stop rolling thru.
Can't wait to be back on the water in 15knots!

I'm looking for an owner's manual for our boat. How is Week's "Force 5 Sailing book?

Hi Steve,

I met you at Lake Lemon. Since you have a 74 Force 5, you need to do the mast reinforcement as these early boats where known to have the deck and the tube come apart. Let me know if you need help on how to do this repair.

Chris

I think it may have been done. This is part of the hull. I'm replacing the item on the middle mast which locks in place to the bottom mast piece. Hard to get on. Guess I'll rivet it although glue may be fine.

Yes, it does have to be riveted. glmo.net has these in stock if you need new ones. These new ones are aluminum which is so much better than the plastic.
