The caps just slide off the end. Just pull a little. Do be ready to catch all the ball bearings when the car comes out the end.

Right as rain, I applied a little extra effort to removing the end caps and off they came. I suspect getting the car bearings back in might be a trick, but a tweezers and one at a time with the car mostly inserted should do it.

So not sure what to call the part, Becket? maybe see photo. The white insert is all but gone. I typically just tie the mainsheet here with a bowline knot. Should I replace the part? Not worry about it? If I should replace it any idea of the part number or official name? It's a Harken

So Chris back in April you were refinishing your rudder and daggerboard, I'm just starting that project, What was your process? What did you use to seal or stain? Got any pictures?

Got busy today took advantage of 45 Degree weather, and did a bunch of rough sanding. Stain or not to Stain... That is the question?

The twist switch on my mainsheet ratchet block is very difficult to rotate, Can this be lubricated?

My wife, amazing woman that she is asked me the obvious question today, Are you going to paint the boat while you have the woodwork off? I was floored, she is right I may never take the woodwork off again. So... Thoughts?

Ed, I wouldn't paint it unless it has many spots that need to be filled. Wet sanding from about 400 to 2000 grit will restore the worse gelcoat.

I epoxy coated my boards, sanded smooth then a couple of coats of Spar Poly for UV protection.

Do you have a picture of the part that won't turn?

That becket is fine, I would just remove the rest of the plastic.

It is pretty much frozen in the free spin mode, It can be twisted, but not with wet hands

I'm guessing decades of non use
