yes, those plugs look good. I took a quick look at amazon and see they have a smaller size. The plugs appear to have different sized rings that you can cut off to fit. I'll have to measure inside diameter and look at those sizes.Good find! (edit: I will have to see them to figure out if I can make a pretty waterproof seal though, maybe they can be caulked to mast, for instance)

Peter - a quick note.
Sorry I haven't been able to test the small sail yet. I've had some trouble with my leg, keeping me out of the boat. Hopefully I 'll get back in there soon. Just didn't want to leave you hanging waiting for the review! Looks like it should be fine though.
Jeff

Thanks Jeff for your response.
First of all I wish you to get better soon.
I have no hurry to get the sail. Possibly my colleague, who lives in Boston will visit Germany in November. That would be an opportunity to save shipping costs. Than i will try it next year.

@all the others:
I think of making a perfect plug with a 3D-printer. Another colleague of mine has got one.

Beautiful Rob - I was looking for that combination, the cap must sit above the mast, keeping the plug from going into the mast. Sorry Peter, it's not in metric!

Technically it just sits up at the top of the second mast section being held down by the sail itself. I believe I put the tape on it to snug it up some so it will not fall out while putting on the sail.
